It’s coming this week – Black Friday sales, and I have spoken to quite a few people who have told me they are looking to get a new computer because the prices are so great at these sales. Well let me warn you now, any computer that is being sold for $199, $299, or even $399 at Black Friday sales is more than likely pretty much a bad buy. That’s not to say that there aren’t some good deals to be found, but these are usually in the $450 and up range.

Retailers such as BestBuy and OfficeDepot love to promote that they are selling a laptop for $200 or a desktop for $249, and while many people who have tight finances may think that this is a blessing, it can often lead to major disappointment, and even total loss. These retailers buy out overstocked or discontinued merchandise  that didn’t sell well in the first place, and has often been sitting on shelves in a warehouse for a while. Most of the cheap computers are exactly that: CHEAP. They are slow, they have bottom end processors, they are usually flimsy and break easily (and most warranties will not cover things that ‘break’ from use). They are also very often more expensive to fix than they are worth, not to mention that even if the company does cover something under a warranty, it is such a hassle.

Too often I have seen people who have bought these so called great deals, only to have the computer’s break on them in a few months, or even worse, they work, but are so slow that they are frustrating to use and are generally worthless.

So be very careful if you think of getting one of these ‘great deals’ on a computer. Computer sales are everywhere during this season, and if you want a computer that is going to work well, and last, carefully consider that it is better to spend a bit more and get something good than saving a few bucks only to end up with endless headaches.

Of course if you have questions about new computers, or are confused about the technology, visit Pensacola Computers at http://pensacolacomputers.com, and also check out the Computer buying guide there
